Pineapple Apple Crisp

For dessert I wanted something new and tasty. I had two apples and a small can of crushed pineapple and I thought they would make a perfect pair.

Pineapple Apple Crisp

1 can (small) Crushed Pineapple
2 Apples, peeled and cored
1/2 c sugar (for fruit) and 1/2 c sugar (for flour mix)
1/4 c brown sugar (for fruit) and 1/4 c brown sugar (for flour mix)
1/2 tsp cinnamon (for fruit) and 1/2 tsp cinnamon (for flour mix)
1/4 c Butter (for fruit) and 1/4 c Butter (for flour mix)
1 c Flour
1/2 c oats (for fruit) and 1 c Oats (for flour mix)
1/2  tsp Baking soda
1/4 tsp Salt
3/4 c Milk

Preheat oven to 350. Grease a 9 x9 pyrex pan. Empty can of pineapple in to the greased pan. Slice the apples into the pyrex pan. Sprinkle with the 1/4 c brown sugar, 1/2 c sugar and 1/2 tsp cinnamon. Dot with small pieces of cut up butter 1/4 cup. In a large mixing bowl, add  flour, oatmeal, sugar, brown sugar, baking soda, salt together.  Add butter and cut it into the flour mixture with knives or a pastry blender. Set aside 1/2 cup of the flour and butter mixture. Add milk to the flour mixture and stir. Spoon the batter on top of the fruit. Top with the dry crumbly oat and flour mixture. Bake for 35 min until bubbly brown.

We served it with ice cream. My family loved it.

    Janis, it was so good. I really liked the combination of pineapple and cinnamon. You should try it.
